How to add or remove global templates or add-ins to manage template add-in in Word 2010

Add-ins are those software programs, which are used to extend the capabilities of Larger software programs. The add-ins in Word 2010 can be among one of the following category; COM add-ins, Smart Tags add-ins, Word add-ins, Templates add-ins, XML Schema add-ins, XML Expansion Packs add-ins, Disabled items add-ins etc. You can manage the add-ins related to the above mentioned categories as Word 2010 allows you to do so. By creating an add-in specifically for a Word 2010 (basically termed as global template) application, you can add and improve the functionality of the Word 2010 application. Adding generic functionality to Word applications environment, add-ins are pretty good. A template is a kind of document that provides macros for shaping a final document, boilerplate text and custom styles. Global templates are basically COM (Component Object Model) based add-ins independent of the Application. You can add or remove Global Templates from the list of currently loaded global templates and add-ins in Word 2010 application. Go through some of the below mentioned steps to learn adding and removing global templates or add-in to manage template add-ins in Word 2010 application.

Steps to add or remove global templates or add-in to manage template add-in in Word 2010

1. Start by invoking the "Word Options" dialog box. You can first click on the "Microsoft Office" button to open the sub options related to Word 2010 Application and then can trace a step among step a) and step b) to open the dialog box of "Word Options".

a. Find the button entitled by "Options" tag, below the "Word" and in the sub options of Word 2010 application and then click on it to invoke the dialog box of "Word Options".

b. Find the "Word" tab in the sub options of Word 2010 application and then click on it, to expand sub options related to it on the adjacent side. Then click on "Options" tab located below the "Microsoft Tools" section to invoke the dialog box of "Word Options".

2. In the Left pane of the "Word Options" dialog box, look for "Add-Ins" tab and then click on it, to expand its options in the adjacent pane. Now find the section "Manage:" and selection box for it. Click on the down arrow mark of the selection box for "Manage:" section and then click on "Templates" option. Finally click the "Go..." button to open the dialog box for "Templates and Add-ins" with Templates tab invoked, for Word 2010 application.

3. Now to add a Global template or add-in to the currently loaded global template or add-in list, click the "Add" button to open the "Add Template" dialog box. Navigate to the location of the global template of add-in using the left pane of the dialog box and then click on the global template or add-in name from the right pane. Then click on "OK" button of the dialog box for "Add Template" to successfully add that global template or add-in to the currently loaded global template or add-in list.

OR

Now to remove a Global template or add-in to the currently loaded global template or add-in list, click the "Add" button to open the "Add Template" dialog box. Click on the name of the global template or add-in from the currently loaded global-template or add-in list and then click the "Remove" button to remove that global template or add-in to the currently loaded global template or add-in list.

4. Now close the dialog box of "Templates and Add-ins" by clicking its "OK" button.

Soon after the successful tracing of above steps is done, you are now capable to add or remove global template or add-in to manage template add-in in Word 2010.
